Kyoto is a city where tradition whispers from every corner — from serene temples and wooden machiya townhouses to the deep, comforting flavors that define its cuisine. In this class, we’ll explore one of our favorite Kyoto specialties: rich and soulful miso ramen.
You’ll begin by learning how to create a deeply layered miso broth inspired by Kyoto’s centuries-old fermentation culture. We’ll guide you through balancing sweetness, saltiness, and umami to achieve the famous depth of flavour. After this, we will prepare our toppings including cha-shu pork, sliced onion & soft boiled egg.
We’ll finish with a delicious marinated cucumber and our take on Japanese fried chicken. You’ll learn how to carefully cut your ingredients, master a feather-light batter, and deep fry to golden perfection — achieving that delicate, airy crunch that makes tempura so irresistible.
Along the way, we’ll share the stories and techniques that make Kyoto-style ramen so special — and show you how to recreate this comforting classic at home.
After creating our very own feast in the kitchen, we’ll sit down together to enjoy our handmade ramen and a refreshing drink (or two!)
